Tangier, Morocco.

As soon as we got to our hotel to Tarifa, we quickly dropped our bags so that we could catch the next ferry to Tangier, Morocco. Tangier is a major Moroccan city that is conveniently only 35 minutes away by ferry from Tarifa. We proceeded to the nearby dock and purchased our roundtrip tickets for 66 euro a person.

Off to Africa!

The ferry was very nice as it even had duty-free shopping inside along with a bar, cafe and other amenities.

It is worth noting that to save time, travelers should have their passports stamped while still on the boat to avoid the lines upon docking. It helps that the Moroccan immigration officers know this and start stamping passports as soon as you board the ferry.

As soon as we landed, we were greeted by tour guides who offered their services. While we weren’t planning on getting one, we decided that for 60 euro, it would be worth it to hire a guide to show us around in our limited time in the city. And so after some haggling we were off!

Our first stop lunch! We were starving from the drive from Malaga and wanted to try out some authentic Moroccan cuisine and the restaurant did not disappoint..

After the short feast, our guide took us on a private car so that we can view the other parts of the city.

After our short car ride, our guide took us on a walking tour of the old town where we stopped by various shops to get souvenirs.

Almost ended up buying a 400 euro carpet!

We walked the town some more and Rac ended up buying a camel-leather backpack among other small trinkets. Soon enough, it was time to head back to the ferry to catch our ride to Tarifa. We bid goodbye to our guide and boarded the ferry back.

Tangier was definitely a great city to visit and gave us a good taste of what Morocco has to offer, cannot wait to be back!
